Business Systems (UK) Ltd (BSL) is a specialist provider of mission-critical Enterprise Communications solutions, focusing on delivering Cloud Contact Centre, Workforce Engagement Management, and Call Monitoring & Compliance solutions to clients in the financial services, contact center, and public sectors. Founded in 1987 by Richard Mill and Stephen Thurston, BSL has grown to become one of the providers in its space, with an enviable reputation in the market.BSL generates revenue through the sale and implementation of its core solutions, which include its own developed voice compliance software tool, "WordWatch," that is sold globally. The company has around 85 staff and over 170 customers, with the largest being in financial services, insurance, healthcare, and critical infrastructure.In January 2021, private equity firm August Equity acquired a controlling interest in BSL to accelerate its ambitious growth plans. This investment was August Equity's fourth in the adjacent managed services sector, following investments in SecureData (cyber), Charterhouse Voice & Data (unified communications), and Air IT (cloud managed services). As part of the transaction, Geoff Love, former CEO of business messaging specialist Commify, joined BSL as Executive Chairman.August Equity's investment aims to support BSL in becoming a UK sector leader while broadening its services, expanding the technology vendor base, and continuing to grow its customer base globally. BSL's partnership with August Equity will enable the company to better serve its customers and partners and develop further opportunities to enter new markets, both domestic and international.
